Catching up.....

I have officially been registered 1 year!  I knew going into adopting from Bulgaria that this would be a LONG wait.  To me this wait has gone by fairly quickly.  I'm not saying there haven't been times when I have wanted my child home, I just have known that it will happen when it is suppose to happen.  So, a year has gone by and I am closer to ever to getting my child :)  Hope there will be some news before the end of the year.

This past weekend I went to the Bulgarian Adoptee's Reunion.  It was such a wonderful time.  The children, adopted and siblings were wonderful all weekend long.  The kids just played and played....they didn't mind the heat at all.  It was over 100 degrees outside all weekend long!  It was great to meet families who have already been through the process and to hear their experiences.  I hope that next year I will be bringing my daughter to the reunion to meet the other kids.  I also got to meet my adoption coordinator Kay.  She is as amazing in real life as she is over the phone and email.  Her kids are pretty amazing too (my mom would have taken home her twin girls).  Great time, highly encourage other families in the process or have a little one home already to go next year.

I am in the process of updating my homestudy and USCIS paper work.  My homestudy social worker, Jan was just here today to go over changes to my homestudy.  She is a great social worker and I have really enjoyed getting to know her.  Funny enough she brought me a copy of the book The Connected Child.  I had just gotten the same book a few days before and have started reading it.  It is very interesting so far.  Hopefully it will help me with being able to assist with attachment once my little one is home.

Still knitting, just don't have any new pics to post.  Hopefully I will have some to post soon :)

Hats

Ok, realized I didn't put up a picture of the hats I knitted to go with the sweaters.  Sorry things have been a little crazy around here.
I will do the drawing Thursday night, but might not get the winners posted until after the picnic weekend in Ohio.  Looking forward to meeting all the other families in Ohio!

Sweater Give Away

Ok, I finally got the two sweaters done :)  They are both knitted to fit a child wearing a toddler/child's size 4-5.  In case you want to know actual measurements here they are: To Fit Chest 26 in/66cm, Actual Size 32 1/2 in/82.5cm, Back Length 16 in/41cm, Underarm Seam 9 1/2 in/24cm.  Both sweaters are made out of 75% cotton 25% acrylic....trust me this is super soft yarn.  Care is machine wash with tumble dry on low (although I always recommend that you lay your sweaters flat to air dry, keeps the fibers looking nice).  I am planning on washing the sweaters before sending them to the winners.
This is the book that the patterns were taken out of
The boy's sweater (sorry the sleeves are hanging off the table)

Up close views on the details :)

Girl's sweater (this is more of an aqua blue, think sea foam blue/green).  There was suppose to be a flora design on the front, but no matter how hard I tried I could not get it to look right (took it out 3 times before giving up).  So, I added some embroidered flowers at the bottom.

Up close details....lace edging at the bottom of the sweater and sleeves and a cabled pattern in the center front and back.

Now for the rules:
If you want to enter you need to leave a comment on this post with your name and which sweater you want to be entered for (Boy, Girl or Both).

If you live outside the US you can still enter to win, but please include your country in your comment.

I will have the drawing in two weeks.  So, if you are going to the picnic in Ohio and you win a sweater I will hand deliver the sweater to you.

Hope that you all enjoy this give away :)

Fun Times

Just got back from Chicago!  I have some great friends who live in the Chicago suburbs that I enjoy visiting when I get the chance.  This trip had a special event taking place......U2 in concert!!!  So, here are some fun pics from the concert.  Lots of fun, if you are a fan I highly recommend seeing them in person.

Ok, in case you can't tell that is U2 walking up to the stage!!! Yes, we were up in the nose bleed section.

It was a fun concert in case you couldn't tell.
