Donations sent

Well, friends and co-workers helped me to get some donations together for Japan.  I had a HUGE box full of things for the babies and children who are in the affected areas.  My amazing friend, Linda, is going to take them to the US Naval base near her home once the box comes.  Now, never having sent anything internationally, I learned something....you have to fill out a custom's report.  Never crossed my mind I would need to do that, not sure why, but it didn't.  Thankfully the shipping place had one that I could use.  I hope that everything gets through customs and eventually to all the people who lost everything.  Thoughts and prayers still going out to those in Japan.

Japan

I know the whole world is responding to the tragedy that happened on the 11th in Japan.  I had the pleasure of attending college with several Japanese international students.  One of my good friends even married one of the Japanese students.  My friend, her husband and children live in Japan near Tokyo.  I am very happy to have heard from her several times since the earthquake happened.  She and her family are safe.  Her two little children are asking some difficult questions, which is to be expected....and they are trying to help these little ones understand as best as they can.  They are also experiencing aftershocks and not sleeping well due to the crisis going on.
It is so hard at times not being able to be there and help her....I am trying to get together a care package for children who have been displaced due to all the things that have happened over the last few days.  I hope friends and co-workers will want to help out.  My friend is going to look into ways to get any care packages to US bases in the area that are responding.  I continue to hope and pray for the safety of those I know in Japan and for the country.
